  • What grades are offered at Crawford International?

    Crawford International offers KG1 – YR 13. 

    We offer KG1 – 3 at Kindergarten,  (Early Years Foundation Stage Programme)


    The Cambridge program provides for 4 pathways:


    • Cambridge Primary for 5 to 11-year-olds. At Crawford International this will be Year 1 to Year.
    • Cambridge Lower Secondary for 11 to 14-year-olds. At Crawford International this will be Year 7 to Year 9.
    • Cambridge Upper Secondary for 14 to 16-year-olds. At Crawford International this will be Year 10 and Year 11 which results with students completing the Cambridge IGCSE.
    • Cambridge Advanced for 16 to 19-year-olds. At Crawford international this is Year 12 and Year 13. The end of Year 12 exams will result in an AS level qualification and the end of Year 13 exams will result in an A level qualification.

    Cambridge provides 9 subjects and their curricula for students following the Primary and Lower Secondary Pathways:

    9. Art and Design


    All 9 Cambridge subjects are offered at CIS from Year 1 to Year 9.

    CIS in addition offer other subjects such as Drama, Dance, Kiswahili, Design and Technology and Go Lab.

    Students in Year 10 and Year 11 (IGCSE) are recommended to choose 8 subjects from a selection of approximately 23 subjects.

    Students in Year 12 (AS Level) choose 4 subjects from a selection of approximately 19 subjects.

    Students in Year 13 (A Level) choose 3 subjects from a selection of approximately 19 subjects.

  • How many children in a class?

    At Crawford International, our small classes ensure individual attention. We limit the number of students per class to 25.  In Kindergarten it is 18 and there is a teacher and an assistant.  Year 1 to 3 is 22 per class.

  • How does the fee structure work, and what do the fees include?

    Parents have a choice of paying the school fees upfront for the whole year.  Parents also have the option of paying the school fees in two instalments or agree on payment plan after documentation has been submitted.  New parents pay full fees for the first term.

    At Crawford International, we provide an all-inclusive offering to give our students every opportunity to develop holistically. We motivate our students to try new pursuits by offering a variety of opportunities within and beyond the classroom.  All the clubs, sports and cultural activities are included in our school fees.   • Are there additional costs for sports and cultural events?

    At Crawford International, we provide an all-inclusive offering to give our students every opportunity to develop holistically. Most of the costs for clubs, sports and cultural activities are included in our school fees. We also offer several private activities to enrich our offering, subject to demand, and at an extra cost to parents. Please get in touch with the school for more information.

  • How many terms does Crawford have?

    Like most private schools, Crawford International has three terms, which include three school holidays as well as mid-term breaks. Parents will be provided with a term calendar at the start of each academic year.

  • What are the requirements for foreign students?

    Foreign students will be provided with a letter to apply for a study visa at the Department of Home Affairs.  Without a receipt or valid study permit a child from a foreign country cannot study at Crawford International School.

  • Does Crawford offer scholarships?

    We do not offer scholarships at this stage.

  • What is your YR11 and YR13 pass rate?

  • Does Crawford offer a bus service?

    Yes, please contact the school for list of pickup points and costs. The school transport is a door-to-door service.

  • Does Crawford offer boarding?

    Boarding is currently not offered on campus, but girls have the option of private facility near the school.   School will collect and drop each day.  Supervisory staff will also be within the facility. Contact the school for more details.

  • Do students at Crawford go on tours?

    Yes, Crawford International students go on bonding, sports and cultural tours on an annual basis. These tours are subject to demand and are offered at an extra cost to parents. Please get in touch with the school for more information.

  • Is online learning an option?

    No, we do not offer hybrid teaching however we can make an exception in a case of prolonged illness and pandemics. This is an agreement between the school and the student. Class Dojo is not used for teaching it is just a communication tool.


    Available for children should the need arise for enrolled children in the case of prolonged illness or pandemics.   


    This is an agreement between the school and the student. All our classrooms are equipped with projectors to facilitate hybrid/remote learning. Our campuses are Wi-Fi enabled, and students can log in via their MS accounts. Crawford teachers offer online classes using either MS Teams.  Class Dojo is used in our junior phases. 

  • Are all Crawford teachers qualified?

    Yes, all classroom teachers are qualified professionals registered with Teacher Service Commission (TSC) and the South African Council for Educators (SACE). We select and support teachers who inspire, enthuse, and encourage students to the highest levels of their ability. We continually review and renew our teaching and learning approaches to ensure that the education we provide remains innovative and relevant.

  • What is your policy on bullying?

    At Crawford International we take bullying extremely seriously with Zero Tolerance towards bulling.  Read more about our policy in our Code of Conduct

  • What is a multiform?

    At Crawford International, we take a unique approach to uniforms. Rather than a uniform, we have a ‘multiform’ that encourages students to make personal decisions around what best suits them as unique individuals. By offering options within the uniform, students can mix and match the casual uniform daily, allowing for freedom of expression within acceptable boundaries.

  • Once enrolled at Kindergarten, do I have to re-register for Preparatory, Middleschool, Junior and Senior High when my child moves from one phase to another?

    Yes, parents wanting their child to start the mew academic year with Crawford International must re-register annually. You will not need to pay an additional enrolment fee.  A term’s notice period is required if you leave the school.

  • Is diversity important to Crawford?

  • Which curriculum does Crawford International follow?

    KG1 – KG3, 

    Teaching and learning in early years at Crawford International School Kenya is guided through 7 Learning Goals from the Early Years Foundation Stage program.  Our students learn through play, exploration, active participation and by creating and thinking critically.  Students at this young age are also introduced to languages like French, Mandarin, Kiswahili and computer skills.

    Cambridge Primary Age 5 to 11 (Year 1 to Year 6)

    Cambridge Lower Secondary Age 11 to 14 (Year 7 to Year 9)

    Cambridge Upper Secondary Age 14 to 16 (IGSCE – Year 10 and Year 11))


    Cambridge Advanced Age 16 to 19:

    • These are subject-based qualifications usually taken in the final two years of high school.
    • (AS Levels – Year 12) – 4 subjects
    • (A Levels – Year 13) – 3 subjects. Our graduates at Crawford International School Kenya go on to universities around the world.
  • What is the Cambridge System?

    Cambridge International is the world’s largest provider of international programs and qualifications for 5 to 19-year-olds.

    Cambridge International is part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a not-for-profit organisation and part of the world-renowned University of Cambridge.


    Cambridge provides students with

  • What is the pass mark to be accepted to A Levels (Year 12 & 13)?

    Student will be required to have 5 subjects with a C symbol and will need a B symbol if wanting to do Maths for A-level.

  • How is the Cambridge Curriculum different to the CBC & 8-4-4 System

    Subject content, approach to teaching, assessment, reports, academic calendar.

  • How is the transition to Cambridge Curriculum

    All applicants are considered individually.   Students are assessed, interviewed and recommendations made.

  • What languages are offered at Crawford International?

    At Crawford, we prepare our students to be changemakers with a globally competitive edge, and encourage them to learn a new language. Students can choose between the following additional languages.

  • How are children with barriers to learning accommodated?

    Shadow teachers are allowed to assist to the cost of the parent.  Contact school for more information.

  • Do students need iPads or any digital devices?

    At Crawford, we help students develop essential 21-century skills and enable them to navigate, analyze, and create using various tools across multiple platforms.  All students have access to 3 fully equipped computer centers.   Students in Year 7 – 13 will need access to their own computers with access to Wi-Fi to fully develop their 21-century skills.

  • Does Crawford International offer extra lessons, if needed?

    It is referred to as support lessons. A student may book time with a subject teacher if they feel the need. It is done on an individual basis. When a phase struggles with a certain section in a subject we would do extra lessons on one of the extra mural days. 

  • Is Crawford International focused on academic performance to the detriment of clubs, sports and cultural achievements?

    At Crawford International, we give our students every opportunity to develop holistically. In addition to our exceptional academics, we also offer comprehensive and highly competitive clubs, sports and cultural programmes, where students can participate in as many different activities as possible. This plays a vital educational function to the all-round development of our students.

  • What makes Crawford International School different from other private schools?

  • How do I enrol my child at Crawford?

    (For 2023)If you are an existing Crawford parent, you will receive an email with a link to STASY and an easy-to-follow How to Guide. You will also receive an SMS to notify you that re-registration is open. Parents can click the link in the email and follow the prompts, or simply log in to the Parent Portal and click on the re-registration pop-up.

  • Can I submit the application form manually at the school of my choice?

    All applications must be completed online through the Crawford International website. If you experience any difficulties submitting your application, please ask the admission staff at the school for assistance.

  • How soon do I need to apply for a specific academic year?

    Spaces at Crawford International are limited, so it is best to apply as soon as possible.

  • Is it compulsory for the prospective student to attend the interview and assessment in person?

    It is preferable for the student to attend the interview and assessment in person. If the student is applying from overseas, arrangements can be made to have the assessment sent to the student’s current school to be completed. Interviews can also be arranged via Skype or Zoom.

  • Can I take a tour of the school during an open day?

    Crawford International hosts open days throughout the year, which offers a wonderful opportunity for parents and students to see the school and meet with the principal, deputies, staff, teachers, and students. School tours are also available during the week and on Saturday till 12:00, during term and school holidays, at a time suitable for prospective families.
